Bridges of Hope
In 2006, the Kuwait-America Foundation raised over $1.2 million to benefit UNICEF in its efforts to improve educational opportunities for children in Afghanistan, especially girls.
The “Bridges of Hope” gala, held on March 8, 2006, celebrated International Women’s Day and the 60th Anniversary of UNICEF. At the event, First Lady Laura Bush was the Guest of Honor and Humanitarian Award recipient; Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was the Honored Guest and Public Service Award recipient; UN Messenger of Peace actor Michael Douglas was the Honored Guest and Private Citizen Award recipient; and ABC’s George Stephanopoulos served as Master of Ceremonies.
