2015 National Recognition Week

Over the past 20 years, the "Do the Write Thing" Challenge has established itself as a successful program aimed at reducing violence in schools and communities across the United States. During National Recognition Week, two National Student Ambassadors from each participating community are honored in Washington, D.C.

During this year's National Recognition Week (July 11th-July 15th), the theme was "Coexist" and our National Student Ambassadors had the opportunity to present their views on youth violence to national leaders from the Department of Education, Department of Justice, and members of Congress. They were also fortunate enough to tour the Supreme Court and meet with one of its law clerks, as well as attend a dinner at the Kuwait Cultural Center hosted for them by the Embassy of the State of Kuwait.Their writings have also been published and placed in the Library of Congress. The event was brought to a close with the National Recognition Dinner hosted by the Kuwait-America Foundation. At the dinner, Academy-Award winning actor and musician Common was the Keynote Speaker and NBC's Ayman Mohyeldin was the Master of Ceremonies.
