Over the past 13 years, the “Do the Write Thing” Challenge (DtWT), founded by the Kuwait-America Foundation, has established itself as a successful program aimed at reducing youth violence in schools and communities across the United States. Each year, KAF and NCSV honor the students who have accepted the Challenge by selecting two "National Finalists" from each participating city to come to Washington, D.C. for our National Reconition Week.

During National Recognition Week, National Finalists have the opportunity to present their views on youth violence to such national leaders as the Secretary of Education, the Attorney General of the United States, the Administrator of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and Members of Congress. In addition, their writings are published and presented to the Library of Congress during an official book presentation.  The week culminates in a National Recognition Dinner that is attended by high-level government officials and corporates alongside community leaders and educators, and of course, our students.
